New MFPs Target SMBs
Earlier this week, Xerox announced two new multifunction products (MFPs) with electronic-document-management capabilities to strengthen its position among small- and medium-sized businesses.
The Phaser 3300MFP retails at $599 and offers printing and copying speeds that top out at 30 ppm. The hardware gives a nod to electronic-document management with a capability to bypass paper by scanning color and monochrome output directly to a USB thumb drive, e-mail, or a network location. To bolster this feature, the MFP comes with software for sending documents directly to a PC.
The new, higher-end WorkCentre 4260 MFP, listing for $2,999, hits top speeds of 55 ppm. It, too, addresses demand for electronic-document processing by including software that can copy both sides of an ID or insurance card and automatically route incoming faxes to an e-mail address. The device accommodates workgroups by allowing multiple workers to print, copy, scan, and fax at the same time.
When making the announcement, Xerox said it included technologies in the devices that were formerly found only in it’s high-end MFPs “to help businesses of all sizes better manage documents."
